Project “Nandini Project” was launched as a CSR initiative of Vardhaman Textile Ltd. under “Promotion of Menstrual Hygiene Education” with the Himalayan Social Institute (H.S.I.) as an implementing agency. This project has enabled young girl children from BPL families to join a regular healthy lifestyle program and give them an opportunity to be educated on Menstrual Hygiene and its prevention, myths and proper use and disposal of Sanitary pads. The project ‘Nandini’ was focused on educating young adolescent girls, between the ages 10-19 years, towards ‘Remedial Education on Menstrual Hygiene’ that concerns their primary health knowledge. This is a critical age wherein adolescent girls lack knowledge about Menstrual hygiene management and personal care. Due to this, they face many problems like dropping out of middle/high school or lacking a remedial support system within the confines of the village/slums. and/or various traditional/patriarchal/social-cultural/myths/taboos factors which make it challenging for these girls to move forward and fulfill their aspirations and dreams.
